About Spamhaus DBL
The DBL lists domains rather than IPs — a domain that sends spam, or whose URLs appear inside spam messages. It’s widely used to block mail mentioning bad domains, so a listing hurts even when your IPs are clean.
Why an domain gets listed
- The domain (or a subdomain) was used to send spam.
- The domain’s URLs appeared in spam/phishing message bodies.
- The domain is newly registered and abused (see also ZRD).
How to delist from Spamhaus DBL

- 2Remove the abuse — take down spammy pages/redirects, secure any compromised CMS, and stop any spam runs referencing the domain.
- 3Request removal via the DBL record on the lookup page once the domain is clean.
Before you request removal: fix the root cause first — delisting while the problem persists almost always leads to a fast re-listing. Confirm the IP has valid reverse DNS, and that your SPF, DKIM and DMARC are in order.
