About Spamhaus SBL
The SBL is a hand-maintained list of IPs Spamhaus has verified as spam sources or as belonging to known spam operations. Listings are deliberate, so removal requires actually resolving the abuse and then asking the SBL team — end users cannot self-remove.
Why an IP gets listed
- The IP (or its network block) has been observed or confirmed sending spam.
- It belongs to a range operated by a known spam operation.
- A snowshoe/hijacked-range pattern was detected across the allocation.
How to delist from Spamhaus SBL
- 1Look up the IP at check.spamhaus.org and open the specific SBL listing record.
- 2Permanently fix the cause — stop the spam, secure or disconnect the offending host, and correct any range/routing that Spamhaus flagged.
- 3If you are an end user, contact your ISP/ESP abuse desk — they must handle the removal.
- 4Use the “contact the SBL Team” mailto link at the bottom of the listing page, describing exactly what was fixed.
