About DroneBL
DroneBL tracks IP addresses of “drones” — bots, open proxies, and abusable services, often used to attack IRC networks and web services. Each listing has an incident id you reference when requesting removal.
Why an IP gets listed
- The host is part of a botnet or is compromised.
- An open proxy (SOCKS/HTTP) or other abusable service is running on the IP.
How to delist from DroneBL
- 1Look the IP up at dronebl.org/lookup and note the incident id and detected issue.
- 2Remediate — clean the compromised host and close any open proxy/service.
- 3Submit the removal for that incident id via the lookup page; contact the DroneBL team if remediation needs explaining.
Before you request removal: fix the root cause first — delisting while the problem persists almost always leads to a fast re-listing. Confirm the IP has valid reverse DNS, and that your SPF, DKIM and DMARC are in order.
